چکیده

Thus, for Weibull statistics (o = 1=2) we require N ̧ 200. For more log-normal-like statistics (e.g., o = 1=10) we require N of order of thousands. Although we have chosen ̄ = 3 the calculations are readily performed for other values of ̄. The above analysis provides a measure of how many K-distributed random phasors must be summed together before the probability density of the amplitude of the sum can be approximated by a Rayleigh. Thus, if the clutter in a resolution cell of area Ac is K-distributed with shape parameter o, one cannot use the Central Limit Theorem to argue that the probability density for the amplitude of the clutter from a larger resolution cell of area NAc, where NÀ 1, is Rayleigh unless N satisfies (5).

Application of a Passive Polarimetric Infrared Sensor in Improved Detection and Classification of Targets

Automatic detection and recognition of targets by means of passive IR sensors suffer from limitations due to lack of sufficient contrast between the targets and their background, and among the facets of a target. In this paper the results of a suite of polarization-sensitive automatic target detection and recognition algorithms on sets of simulated and real polarimetric IR imagery ate presented...

Polarimetric Scene Modeling in the Thermal Infrared

Interest in polarimetric remote sensing is gaining momentum in the visible and remains strong in the microwave regions of the spectrum. However, passive polarimetric phenomenology in the 3-14 micron infrared (IR) region is complicated by the relative contributions and complementary polarization orientation of the thermally emitted and background reflected radiance. Although this modality has fo...

Image Segmentation from Multi-look Passive Polarimetric Imagery (Invited Paper)

A passive imaging polarimeter records the polarization state of light reflected by an object that is illuminated with an unpolarized and usually uncontrolled source. Passive polarimetric imagery has shown to be useful in many remote sensing applications including shape extraction, material classification and target detection/recognition. In this paper, we present an image segmentation algorithm...

Session 1 was classified, and began with a presentation by Weatherington on various platforms in use by the US DoD, their signal collection types (described as EO & IR, although IR in general is considered an EO technology, so EO may refer to visible in this case), and growth plans for future capabilities. Fenner Milton then presented on tests by the US Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors ...

Classification of polarimetric radar images based on SVM and BGSA

Classification of land cover is one of the most important applications of radar polarimetry images. The purpose of image classification is to classify image pixels into different classes based on vector properties of the extractor. Radar imaging systems provide useful information about ground cover by using a wide range of electromagnetic waves to image the Earthchr('39')s surface. The purpose ...
